DESCRIPTION:ALAN GRIEVE EXHIBITION \nEntry is free. \nAlan is an alchemist\, turning stories\, artefacts\, incidents and a whole range of other material mined in the most unlikely places\, into gold. An exquisite draughtsman and sublime painter\, Grieve is equally precision-tooled and trenchant in his use of language. Indeed\, his most effective work exists at the nexus between the image and the word; the two mediums informing\, amplifying and contradicting each other to devastating effect. His gift when applying the visual to text and vice versa is to breezily expose darkness in the everyday and to leaven the sinister with irresistible wit. \nAlan has exhibited widely\, including SHELTER STONE – The Artist and the Mountain (2018) and REVEAL (2023) at the Royal Scottish Academy and most recently RING OF TRUTH at Blackie House Library and Museum as part of the 2025 Edinburgh Art Festival. His primary arena is the community\, specifically his home city of Dunfermline which continues to be an inspiring muse. His rare genius and enthusiasm for social engagement has seen him work in prisons\, tower blocks\, parks\, bothies\, dancehalls and shopping malls\, encouraging creative activity and conversations often with surprising outcomes. \nSince Alan graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art with an MFA in 2008\, he has become widely respected as and artist and creative agitator\, building a loyal following both online and off as a committed community practitioner. He remains as unpretentious as he is talented and still wakes daily at dawn making sure to maintain his daily drawing regime.

With decades of experience and deep roots in the Scottish blues scene\, Tweeddale and Warden promise an evening of top-tier musicianship and timeless tunes. \nNeil Warden is a Scottish guitarist and composer with over four decades of professional experience\, specialising in electric and acoustic guitar and the Weissenborn lap steel. He has performed and recorded with a wide range of artists including Tam White\, Boz Burrell\, Camille O’Sullivan\, Peter Straker\, Maggie Bell\, Jim Diamond\, Brian Kellock and Stuart Mitchell. Described by Blues Matters magazine as “one of the world’s leading exponents of the Weissenborn lap steel guitar\,” Warden has also been praised on BBC Radio 2 by Paul Jones\, who noted that his playing “creates a very special atmosphere.” His work spans live performance\, recording\, and composition for film\, television and theatre. \nSandy Tweeddale is a Scottish blues guitarist\, vocalist\, songwriter\, and producer with extensive experience performing throughout the UK and Europe. Best known as a long-standing member of the acclaimed blues band Blues ’N’ Trouble since 2001\, he has built a strong reputation for authentic electric and acoustic blues performance\, live touring\, recording\, and music production. Throughout his career\, Sandy has collaborated with leading Scottish blues artists including Maggie Bell\, Tim Elliott & The Troublemakers\,\, performing at major blues festivals and venues. He is also the songwriter of “Tennessee Whiskey\,” recorded by Blues ’N’ Trouble\, and served as executive producer for the band’s 30th Anniversary Concert recording.
