The Burnside Burners are a collective whose members first met in 2019 when they all attended the ‘Edinburgh Blues Academy, created by the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival team. The Blues Academy was a great initiative providing inspiration for musicians of all abilities and ages.

The Academy ended in 2022 and it was time for them to form a group to take what they’d learned to the stage. The name selected was “The Burnside Burners” as at that time they were inspired by the great Mississippi Hill bluesmen, particularly RL Burnside.

Their main influences are the classic blues artists from the early to mid-20th century and they aim to continue adding more old-time blues songs to their repertoire. However, they are not complete roots purists and have added more modern numbers from the likes of Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, The Allman’s, and Rory Gallagher along with some more contemporary artists.
