Folksville
June 9 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
| £10Folksville returns to the Fire Station Creative in Dunfermline! A brilliant evening of live music, this time showcasing artists featured on the Folksville Records label.
Featured will be William Hershaw & The Leid, an award-winning Fife poet and songwriter whose new album has been described as a “gamechanger” for Scots language music. Willie is a familiar face at the FSC, collaborating with artist Les McConnell for several popular exhibitions over the last few years. He is an acclaimed Scottish poet, playwright, folk musician and Scots language activist, winning both the Callum MacDonald Award and The McCash Prize for Scots Poetry. He returns accompanied by his 5-piece rock ‘n’ roll outfit, for a fully amplified and lively set of lallans toe-tappers.
Also performing will be the popular alt-folk trio Paper Sparrows, whose sound centers on their distinctive twin-acoustic guitar style, finger-picking, vocal harmonies and double bass.
“There’s a real emotional depth going on here plus an undeniably rich songwriting craft that can be heard throughout the sterling performances, all of which bodes well for the future of this Edinburgh-based acoustic three-piece.” SHINDIG! MAGAZINE
Paper Sparrows are David Hershaw, Ross Fairbairn and Colin Morris, who released their popular debut album Hiding Away From the Light in 2023. They are now a live act in high demand, featuring on the lineup for this year’s world-renowned Cambridge Folk Festival.
