Roger Pickering Presents: “The Orzeł Story”

(In conjunction with the Polish Consulate in Scotland)

Tickets are available online from Eventbrite

Join Roger Pickering, co-founder of Forth Pilgrim, for an inspiring evening exploring one of World War II’s most extraordinary true stories—the daring escape of the Polish submarine ORP Orzeł from internment in Tallinn to the safety of Rosyth, where it was hailed by HMS Valorous.

Described by Winston Churchill as “the greatest adventure story to come out of the war,” this remarkable episode stands as a testament to courage, resilience, and the enduring friendship between Poland, Scotland, and the UK.

Roger will share how this shared history inspired the creation of the ORP Orzeł Memorial Garden—a new cultural landmark in Fife dedicated to remembrance and reflection. The project, developed in collaboration with the Polish Consulate, Babcock International, Damen Naval, Fife Council, and the Polish Naval Museum in Gdynia, has grown from a local idea into an international symbol of unity and respect.

Discover how this garden will not only honour the past but also enrich the community and strengthen Fife’s connection to its remarkable Polish-Scottish heritage.

A history lesson for our future—because some stories are too important to be forgotten.
