THE PATONS OF WOOERS’ ALLEY

Fire Station Creative (FSC) launches 2023 with an exhibition to celebrate the Patons, an esteemed family of artists who lived in Dunfermline in the 19th century. Best known of the three siblings was Sir Joseph Noël Paton who became Queen Victoria’s ‘Limner for Scotland’. He is recognised for his elaborate depictions of fairies and other mythological scenes and was an important contributor to the Pre-Raphaelite Movement. Three of his works are on permanent display in the Dunfermline’s City Chambers. One of these masterpieces, depicting Queen Margaret and King Malcolm Canmore, will be on loan for the exhibition, courtesy of Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.

Entry is free.
